Best of 2010

These are the pictures which I consider to be the best I've taken since January 1st. All but the snowy fence picture were taken in Europe; I photographed the fence shortly after Charlottesville's record-breaking snowfall (though much of the snow had melted by the time of exposure). These were the pictures I wanted in my end-of-year portfolio, but thanks to a paper shortage I was forced to use the prints from previous assignments ( all of which have already been posted on this blog) instead.

Creative Writing Exchange

This is the picture I chose for the Creative Writing Assignment. The poem I chose was very atmospheric, talking about grassy fields, blue skies, fluffy clouds, forested mountains...and the moment I read it, I realized I knew the perfect place to shoot it. I snuck onto a neighboring farm and captured this vista.

Architecture (You Choose)

I was going to Europe on a field trip over Spring Break, so when I learned that one of the options for this assignment was architectural photos, I knew that I had to bring my camera and shoot lots of pictures. And I did: my memory card had more than 1800 pictures on it by the time we got back. Most of them are on my computer at home, but the more architectural ones also went to the Photography servers. This shot of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris is the one that wound up in the critique folder, but in hindsight, I had some better photos from the trip. Those are now part of the "Best of 2010" post.
